I went with colleagues from the Technical Course in Computing and Computer Engineering, including Halisson José Soares da Rocha, then in his 5th term. We toured the Santos Dumont facilities, which have more than 36,000 processing cores and rank among the world’s top 500 supercomputers, as well as the LNCC’s specialized library and its historical computing equipment collection — a good way to connect what we see in the classroom with scientific computing in practice.
